Patterned after the Yale system, OU's Residential Colleges are communities that offer upperclass students personal interaction with each other and with faculty members in a way that forges a link between living and learning.
The University of Oklahoma has two Residential Colleges, Headington College and Dunham College. They provide an intimate and supportive community designed to promote the social, intellectual and personal growth of OU undergraduates. The Residential Colleges have many functions:
- Build upon the university's strong sense of family and community
- Emphasize a faculty-led, academics-focused social community, which strengthens the academic culture on campus
- Increase retention and graduation rates
- Create smaller, inclusive communities where students of different backgrounds and academic interests can interact and learn from each other
